A Louis Vuitton Date Code indicates the country of production and production date of the items.  Prior to 1980s, date codes didn’t exist.  In the early 1980s, the brand introduced date codes containing 3 or 4 numbers. Since late 1980s, Louis Vuitton date codes include numbers and 2 capital letters.  While date codes alone do not completely determine authenticity of an item, understanding it is an important part in identifying an authentic Louis Vuitton item.
